PRIVACY POLICY
- Your privacy matters to Your Volta Services Private Limited (the “Company”, “we”,
“Volta”, “us” or “our”).

"This Privacy Policy ('Policy') outlines the practices and procedures for collecting, using,
processing, storing, retrieving, disclosing, transferring, and protecting your information,
including personal and sensitive personal data ('Information'), that Volta may obtain through
your online access, interaction, or use of the Volta mobile applications ('Volta App') or our
website located atwww.Voltacabs.com (collectively referred to as the 'Volta Platform'), as well as
through your offline interactions with us, such as through mail, phone, in-person meetings, or
while availing our Services."
- The terms “user” “you” and “your” refer to a Driver (defined below), a Customer (defined below),
a Service Provider (defined below) or any other user of the Volta Platform and / or utilizing
the Services (as defined below).
- The term “Services” refers to any services provided by Volta in accordance with the applicable
terms and conditions, which are available on the Volta Platform, whether accessed through the
Volta Platform or through other means.
- Capitalized terms not defined in this Policy carry the meanings assigned to them in the terms and
conditions applicable to you, as available on the Volta Platform.
- Please review this Policy before using the Volta Platform or providing any Information to Volta.
This Policy is a part of, and should be read in conjunction with, the terms and conditions
applicable to Customers of the Volta App, as provided on the Volta Platform.
1. PLATFORM USER AGREEMENT
- By accessing or using the Volta Platform or Services, you signify your acceptance of this Policy, including any changes made by the Company at its sole discretion and posted on the Volta Platform periodically.
The collection, processing, retrieval, transfer, use, storage, disclosure, and protection of your Information will be conducted in accordance with this Policy and applicable laws, such as the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the relevant rules ("Applicable Laws"). If you do not agree with this Policy, please discontinue your use of the Volta Platform.
- You hereby confirm to Volta that:
- a. The Information you provide to Volta is, and will continue to be, accurate, truthful, current, and complete, and that you have obtained all necessary rights, permissions, and consents required to share such Information with Volta.
- b. Your provision of Information, as well as Volta's subsequent storage, collection, usage, transfer, access, or processing of that Information, does not and will not breach any agreements, Applicable Laws, charter documents, judgments, orders, or decrees.
- c. If you provide Information relating to others, you confirm that you have the authority to do so and to authorize us to use that Information in compliance with this Policy
2. DEFINITIONS
- Unless otherwise specified in this Policy, the capitalized terms used herein shall have the following meanings:
- a. “Drivers” means independent third-party vehicle operators or riders who offer services on the Volta Platform to Customers.
- b. “Co-branded Services” shall have the meaning defined in paragraph 5(c) of this policy.

c. “Customer” denotes an individual seeking to receive services from Drivers or Service Providers on the Volta Platform.

d. “Device” shall mean computer, mobile or other device used to access the Services.

e. “Device Identifier” shall mean IP address or other unique identifier of the Device.
- f. “Promotion” shall mean any contest and other promotions offered by us.
- g. “Personal Information” shall mean such categories of information that could reasonably be used to identify you personally, including your name, e-mail address, and mobile number.
- h. “TPSP” shall mean a third-party service provider.
- i. “Usage Information” shall have the meaning assigned to the term in paragraph 3(II) of this policy.
- j. “Service Provider” shall mean third party providers offering Vehicle rental services on the Volta Platform.
3. ASSORTMENT OF INFORMATION
- I. DATA YOU SHARE WITH US
- a. Users’ Personal Data: We may ask you to provide certain Personal data to us. We may collect this information through various means and in various places for the provision of Services, including account registration forms, contact us forms, or when you otherwise interact with us. When you sign up to use the Services, you create a user profile. We shall ask you to provide only such Personal Information or data which is for lawful purpose connected with our Services and necessary to be collected by us for such purpose.
- b. The Information you provide to us includes the following:
- Account Details: When you create or update your Volta account, you may be asked to provide details such as your email address, name, address, mobile number, gender, date of birth, photograph, login credentials, password, and banking or payment information (as permitted by Applicable Laws), among other relevant details.
- Saved/Stored Data: As you use our Services, we may collect and store details about you to process your requests and facilitate future transactions. This may include, but is not limited to, your phone number, address, email address, billing information, emergency contact details, and other relevant information.
- Authentication Details: For Service Providers or Drivers, we may collect various details for authentication purposes, including location data, profile pictures, call and SMS records, copies of government-issued identification (such as Aadhaar or Permanent Account Number), license information, and other Know Your Customer (KYC) details. We may also require vehicle-related documents, such as the certificate of registration, vehicle permit, certificate of fitness, insurance, pollution certificate, and other documents proving the vehicle's condition and fitness for providing Services on the Volta Platform. Additionally, Drivers may be asked to take and upload real-time selfies to the Volta Platform periodically to verify their identity.
- Background Verification: We gather background check and identity verification information for Drivers and Service Providers. This may include details such as driving history, criminal records (where legally permissible), and work authorization status. This information may also be collected by third-party service providers (TPSPs) on behalf of the Company.
- Auxiliary Information: If you sign up as a Driver or Service Provider, you may enable features that require Volta to access other applications on your Device to help prevent and detect fraud affecting Customers. Additionally, we collect any extra details you provide when contacting Volta for customer support or reporting issues. This includes information submitted electronically, such as through in-app messaging, message boards, ratings, reviews, or comments. If you refer a friend, we may also collect and use their name and contact information to promote our Services.
- In addition to the above, you must not upload, display, share, host, publish, or transmit any information that:
- i. Is harmful, offensive, harassing, obscene, pornographic, or invasive of another’s privacy. This includes content that is hateful, racially or ethnically objectionable, disparaging, related to or encouraging money laundering or gambling, or an online game that may harm users. Additionally, do not post content that is unlawful or promotes enmity between different groups based on religion or caste with the intent to incite violence;
- ii. Deceives or misleads recipients about the origin of messages, or communicates misinformation or content that is evidently false, untrue, or misleading;
- iii. Threatens the unity, integrity, defense, security, or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign countries, or public order. This includes inciting violence or preventing the investigation of any offense, or insulting other nations.
- II. DATA ACQUIRED TROUGH YOUR INTERACTION WITH THE VOLTA APP
- Transaction Data: We collect information related to transactions, including trip details, pick-up and drop-off addresses, distance traveled, payment transaction information (as permitted by Applicable Laws), and other related data.
- Geolocation Data:
- i. Drivers and Service Providers: Volta collects geolocation data while the Volta App is active, whether in the foreground (when the app is open and visible) or in the background (when the app is running but not in use) on your mobile device. For Drivers, Volta collects geolocation data only when the "On-Duty" icon is enabled in the Volta App.
- ii. Customers: We collect precise or approximate location data from your Device if you permit it. This data is collected from when you request a Service until it is completed, and whenever the app is running in the foreground. We use this data to enhance your experience with the Volta App, including improving pick-up locations, enabling safety features, and detecting fraud. Even if you do not enable location data collection, we link Drivers’ location data from trips to your account for services like receipt generation, customer support, and ensuring safety.
- Usage Data: Our third-party service providers and the Service Provider may employ various technologies to automatically collect certain information whenever you visit or interact with the Volta Platform for obtaining Services ("Usage Data"). This may include details such as your browser type, the URL that directed you to our Services, the sections of our Services you visit, as well as time spent, searches, search results, and other usage behavior on the Volta App.
- Healthcare Data: If you are a Driver, we may collect certain health related Information and declarations such as body temperature, symptoms, vaccination status and other health conditions.
- Device Data: We collect information directly or through third-party integrations, including technical and aggregated usage data such as Device Identifier, preferred language and country, device manufacturer, software and model, device type, operating system, geolocation, mobile network data, screen visits, touch gestures, scrolling activity, and other interactions with the Volta App. This data helps enhance user experience, facilitate software updates, and provide support. Sensitive information related to other programs, passwords, and activities in other apps is not collected and is masked.
- o SMS/Text Messages: With your permission, we may access SMS/text messages on your Device to (i) issue and receive one-time passwords and other device verification codes, and (ii) automatically complete verification details during financial transactions, either directly or through a third-party service provider, in compliance with Applicable Laws. We do not share or transfer SMS/text message data to any third parties except as outlined in this Policy.
- Call details: If you are a Service Provider or a Driver, we will, additionally, record your calls with us made from the Device used to provide Services and related call details.
- Other Information: We gather data on how you interact with the Volta App and any linked websites, including usage frequency, time spent, and actions taken within the app. This helps us understand how often you use specific features and how you engage with the app overall.
- Cookies: We use data collection devices such as “Cookies” on certain pages of the Platform to help analyse our web page flow, measure promotional effectiveness, and promote trust and safety. “Cookies” are small files placed on your hard drive that assist us in providing our services. Cookies do not contain any of your personal information. We offer certain features that are only available through the use of a “Cookie”. We also use cookies to allow you to enter your password less frequently during a session. Cookies can also help us provide information that is targeted to your interests. Most cookies are “session cookies”, meaning that they are automatically deleted from your hard drive at the end of a session. You are always free to decline/delete our cookies if your browser permits, although in that case you may not be able to use certain features on the Platform and you may be required to re-enter your password more frequently during a session. Additionally, you may encounter “cookies” or other similar devices on certain pages of the Platform that are placed by third parties. We do not control the use of cookies by third parties.
- III. DATA BY THIRD PARTY ENTITIES ABOUT YOU
- We may periodically collect information about you through the Volta Platform or while using our Services. Additionally, we may obtain information from affiliates, third parties, or third-party service providers (TPSPs), including technical sub-contractors, business partners, analytics providers, search information providers, and payment service providers. We may also gather data from publicly available sources such as marketing lists, social networks, and other media.
4. APPLICATION OF GATHERED INFORMATION
- We collect and use your information primarily to enhance your experience with our Services. Your information may be used for the following purposes:
- a) To grant access to the Volta Platform.
- b) To verify your identity and/ or your capacity, under applicable law, to provide Services through the Volta Platform;
- c) To closely monitor feature usage, view trip history, rate services, and identify areas for improvement, including usage patterns and geographic data to focus services and resources;
- d) To send verification emails/SMS for account setup;
- e) To provide you the correct app version depending on your Device type, for troubleshooting and in some cases, marketing purposes;
- f) To help diagnose problems with our computer server, and to administer and manage Volta Platform;
- g) To send you strictly service-related announcements on rare occasions when it is necessary to do so. For instance, if our Services are temporarily suspended for maintenance, we might send you an email. If you do not wish to receive them, you have the option to deactivate your account;
- h) To prevent, discover and investigate violations of this Policy or any applicable terms of service or terms of use;
- i) To identify and/or detect security breaches or attacks, errors, fraud, money laundering, abuse and other criminal activities, and investigating and taking appropriate remedial action;
- j) We provide some of your Personal details (such as your name, pick up address, contact number) to the Driver or the Service Provider who accepts your request for Services so that the Driver or the Service Provider may contact and find you;
- k) For Customers, to use geo-location data to show nearby Drivers/Service Providers, auto-fetch location, and share location for safety;
- l) If you are a Driver, we use the geo-location information for (only when the Driver activates the icon “On-Duty” on the Volta App) you to receive orders close to your location even when the Volta App is not in use or closed, to enable the Customers to track the distance of the Drivers from their location for pick up, to share the exact location for the safety of the Customers, etc.;
- m) If you are a Driver, we may share your name, vehicle number, driving license number, phone number and/or profile picture (if applicable), tracking details with our Customers to provide them the Services;
- n) We may use your Personal or Usage Information for: (a) processing your requests and transactions, including sending newsletters or promotional materials from us or third parties; (b) enabling participation in features such as sweepstakes, contests, or promotions; (c) contacting you about your use of the Services or updates to our policies; (d) internal business activities; (e) data analytics; and (f) any other purposes disclosed when you provide your information or as outlined in this Policy;
- o) To enhance your user experience in relation to the Volta App or the Services, including customization / personalization of the Volta App or the Services;
- p) To provide relevant offers or rewards to you, based on your consumption patterns;
- q) To enforce our terms and conditions and this Policy, and resolve any disputes;
- r) To improve functionality, performance, and usability of the Volta Platform;
- s) To comply with Applicable Laws or requests received from regulators, government, law enforcement or judicial authorities under Applicable Laws or our contract with a third party;
- t) To carry out our obligations and enforcing rights arising from any contracts between us;
- u) To disclose to affiliates, our and their employees, agents and representatives on a need-to-know basis to facilitate provision of Services;
- v) To deliver any administrative notices, alerts, advice, notifications and communication relevant to your use of the Services, through social media (including WhatsApp), SMS and other media;
- w) f you register for our Services as an employee or a stakeholder of a partner company offering discounts or promotions, we may share your information with that partner for their internal business purposes only.
- x) We may use your information for any other purposes you provide consent for or as specified. Please note that we do not use your information for targeted advertising.
5. DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES
- We do not sell, share, rent, or trade your information except as outlined in this Policy or when you provide your information. Below are the circumstances under which your information may be shared:
- a. WHEN YOU AUTHORIZE THE SHARING OF INFORMATION WITH THIRD PARTIES:
- You can choose to receive information and marketing offers directly from third parties by accessing their links on the Volta App. If you consent to share your Personal Information, it will be disclosed to those third parties, and their privacy policies and practices will govern how your information is handled. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so we recommend reviewing their policies before agreeing to receive communications from them. If you later wish to stop receiving communications from a third party, you must contact that party directly.
- b. THIRD PARTIES / SERVICE PROVIDERS PROVIDING SERVICES ON OUR BEHALF
- We may share the information you provide with our third-party service providers, business partners, and agents. Before using their services through the Volta App, please review their privacy policies for more details.
- We engage third-party service providers to assist us in delivering our services, such as hosting, designing or operating features, tracking analytics, processing payments, implementing anti-fraud and security measures, conducting background and identity verifications, performing criminal record checks, providing customer support, sharing geo-location data with Drivers/Service Providers, sending special offers, managing job applications, and carrying out technical services (e.g., maintenance, database management, web analytics, feature improvements), or other administrative tasks. These service providers have access to information, including personal data, solely for performing the services they are contracted to provide. We require these third parties to uphold the same level of data protection as we do and impose contractual obligations to prevent the disclosure or misuse of personal information.
- Service providers handling analytics may set and access their own cookies, web beacons, and embedded scripts on your device, which may allow them to collect or access information about you.
- Additionally, we use a third-party hosting provider for the support section of our website. Any information collected within this section by the hosting provider is governed by our policy.
- c. LEGAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE COMPLIANCES
- We collaborate with government and law enforcement authorities, as well as private entities, to comply with applicable laws and regulations. Consequently, we may access, use, retain, transfer, and disclose your information (including Personal Information, IP address, Device Information, or geo-location data) to these parties as we deem necessary and appropriate for:
- (i) Adhering to legal requirements, regulations, subpoenas, governmental requests, or legal processes;
- (ii) Enforcing and defending the terms and conditions of the Volta App or Services, including investigating potential breaches;
- (iii) Safeguarding the safety, rights, property, or security of the Company, our Services, or any third party;
- (iv) Ensuring public safety for any reason;

(v) Detecting, preventing, or addressing fraud, security issues, or technical problems;

(vi) Preventing or addressing activities that we consider illegal, unethical, or legally actionable.
- d. AFFILIATED ORGANIZATIONS AND BUSINESS TRANSFER
- We may share your Information, including Personal and Usage Information, with our parent company, subsidiaries, and affiliates for internal business and operational purposes. We also reserve the right to disclose and transfer this information: (i) to a new owner, co-owner, or operator of the Services or relevant database; or (ii) in the event of a corporate merger, consolidation, restructuring, sale of substantially all of our assets or equity interests, or other significant corporate change, including during any due diligence process.
6. THIRD PARTY CONTENT AND EXTERNAL SERVICE LINKS
- The Services may include content provided by third parties. These third parties might collect information such as website usage data and Device Identifiers when you access their content through our online or mobile Services. Additionally, you may be directed to other sites or apps operated by third parties that we do not control, and our Policy will not apply to those sites or apps. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. For instance, clicking on a banner ad may redirect you to a different website, where they might use their own cookies, collect data independently, or have their own privacy policies.
- If you upload, share, or transmit content from the Volta App to external platforms, such as email, online communities, or websites, that content will be subject to the privacy policies of those platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party platforms.
- Our online and mobile Services may feature social media tools, such as the Facebook Like button, “Share This” button, or interactive mini-programs. These features may collect information like your IP address, photos, or the pages you visit on our Services, and may set cookies to function correctly. The privacy policies of the companies providing these features govern your interactions with them, and we are not liable for their actions or policies.
- Be aware that some third parties may be located in different jurisdictions. If you use their services, your information might be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We advise you to review the privacy policies of third-party sites or applications before submitting any information to them. We are not responsible for the actions or omissions of third-party service providers.
7. UPDATING INFORMATION AND ACCOUNT TERMINATION
- a. You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the information you provide to us, including contact details submitted during account registration.
- b. If your personal information changes or if you no longer wish to use our services, you can update or correct it on our member information page or by contacting us via the email address provided on the Volta Platform or reaching out to the Grievance Officer. We will make reasonable efforts to update your information in our active databases as promptly as possible.
- c. You may also cancel or modify the communications you receive from Volta by following the instructions contained within an e-mail or by logging into your user account and changing your communication preferences.
- d. If we encounter difficulties in providing our services due to incorrect or insufficient information after you make changes, we may, at our discretion, terminate your access to the services. We will notify you of this decision via your registered email address.
- e. If you wish to cancel your account or request the cessation of service provision using your information, contact us via the email address on your trip bill, through the Volta Platform, or with the Grievance Officer listed in this policy. Note that disabling access to certain information may limit our ability to provide some or all of the services.
- f. We will retain your Information including Personal Information and Usage Information (including geo-location) for as long as your account with the Services is active and as needed to provide you services. Even after your account is terminated, we will retain some of your Information including Personal Information and Usage Information (including geo-location, trip history, and transaction history) for a period of 180 days, to resolve disputes, conclude any activities related to cancellation of an account, investigate, or prevent fraud and other inappropriate activity related to your account, to enforce our agreements, or for other business reasons, etc. After completion of such period, your data may either be deleted from our database or be anonymized and aggregated, and then may be held by us as long as necessary for us to provide our Services effectively, but our use of the anonymized data will be solely for analytic purposes.
8. DATA COLLECTED BY DRIVERS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS
- This Policy does not cover the usage of any information about you which is obtained by the Drivers or Service Providers while providing you a Transportation, Delivery, Package or Rentals Services, or otherwise.
9. DATA OF CHILDREN
- We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under the age of 18 and use of our Platform is available only to persons who can form a legally binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872. If you are under the age of 18 years then you must use the Platform, application or services under the supervision of your parent, legal guardian, or any responsible adult.
10. SECURITY
- We securely store the information we collect in our databases using standard, industry-recognized security practices, including encryption, firewalls, and SSL (Secure Socket Layers). While encryption technology provides robust protection, no security system is completely infallible. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of our databases or that information transmitted to us over the Internet or wireless communication won't be intercepted. Any information you transmit is done at your own risk. We advise against sharing your password with anyone.

12. CHANGES / MODIFICATIONS TO THE PRIVACY POLICY
- We reserve the right to update or modify this Policy periodically to reflect changes in our information practices. Any revisions will take effect immediately upon posting the updated Policy on the Volta Platform. In the event of significant changes, we will notify you via email (to the address associated with your account) or through a notice on the Volta App before the changes take effect. We encourage you to review this page regularly to stay informed about our privacy practices. Continued use of the Volta App or Services after the Policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
